Title

Outline of the Mississippi Project Areas

Subject

Freedom Summer

Description

Freedom Summer was a far-reaching initiative meant to help disenfranchised African Americans throughout Mississippi. This meant that volunteers were stationed at schools and community centers in cities that differed geographically, socially and sometimes culturally. These small write-ups were written to prepare volunteers for the racial tension and possible negative reception in a particular locale.
