Verbal assaults, bombings, lynchings, shootings, cross burnings and ambushes were all a daily possibility for African Americans and sympathetic Whites in the South. This document was sent from COFO leadership to the parents of volunteers following the disappearance of Schwerner, Chaney and Goodman in June 1964.
